Job Development and Placement:
a) Research prevailing employment trends, perform market surveys, and proactively explore job prospects via telemarketing, cold calls, direct outreach, and networking efforts.
b) Aggregate and routinely update informational files containing details on local employers, job banks, and available employment opportunities. Additionally, manage student placement information.
c) Establish and maintain relationships with employers to identify job openings, internships, and potential career paths.
Student and Alumni Support:
a) Assign internship placements to students who require them or express interest.
b) Assist current students in identifying part-time employment opportunities.
c) Introducing new students to Placement office services during orientation.
d) Reach out to potential graduates before their graduation term, offering University-provided placement services, and initiate graduate interviews with potential employers.
e) Conduct follow-up communication after interviews with both employers and students, documenting the feedback received.
Event Coordination:
a) Plan and oversee job fairs, career workshops, and networking events.
b) Work in partnership with academic departments to incorporate career-related activities into the curriculum.
c) Cultivate robust relationships with academic departments to streamline student placements aligned with their field of study.
Resume and Interview Assistance:
a) Recognize and assist students in cultivating work-related skills such as professional attire, resume crafting, interview preparation, and job application processing.
b) Arrange and manage training sessions for students, encompassing interpersonal skills, employability skills, resume development, and other job-related areas.
c) Provide mock interviews and constructive feedback to improve interview performance.
Data Management:
a) Keep precise and current records of interactions with students/alumni, job placements, and employer contacts.
b) Employ databases and tracking systems to effectively manage career-related information.
c) Document and collect feedback from employers regarding the performance of referred employees.
d) Produce a thorough annual report derived from placement results.
e) Conduct surveys with graduates to collect data on the efficacy of the University's program.
f) Consistently oversee actions for improvement at the campus level, as specified in the Placement Office’s Planning, Assessment, and Implementation Form.
g) Guarantee compliance with licensing and accrediting organizations.
Networking and Outreach:
a) Participate in outreach initiatives to broaden the network of potential employers.
b) Act as a representative of the institution at external events and conferences associated with career services.
Department of Defense Responsibilities:
1. Take on the responsibility of guiding service members on the application process for jobs aligned with their qualifications and skills.
2. Identify and communicate available job resources to facilitate a smooth transition into employment upon graduation.
3. Stay informed about changes in military educational policies and ensure the institution’s compliance with relevant regulations affecting active-duty students.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, Bachelor preferred.
- Solid understanding of the student life cycle within a school setting and/or the Career Services process.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including problem solving, organization and conflict resolution skills.
- Familiarity with industry trends and job market demands.
- Proficiency in utilizing career services software and databases.
- Ability to work with people from a variety of diverse social and economic backgrounds.
- Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Ability to professionally represent the campus in the employment community.
- Very strong phone and computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel a must, including typing and data entry.
