We are seeking a meticulous and efficient individual to join our healthcare facility as a Medical Records Scanner. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently and accurately scanning medical records into patient electronic charts, ensuring the secure storage and retrieval of patient information.
- Scan and Digitize Medical Records: Operate scanning equipment, such as high-speed scanners and document management software, to convert paper-based medical records into electronic format. Ensure the legibility and accuracy of scanned documents, maintaining the integrity of patient information.
- Organize and Index Scanned Files: Implement a systematic approach to organizing scanned medical records. Create appropriate digital folders or categories, assign proper naming conventions, and tag records with relevant identifiers for easy retrieval.
- Maintain Patient Confidentiality: Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and HIPAA regulations throughout the scanning process. Safeguard patient privacy by following established protocols and using secure systems for handling and storing sensitive medical information.
- Quality Control and Data Verification: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of scanned records. Verify scanned data against source documents, resolve any discrepancies, and escalate issues as necessary.
- Collaborate with Medical Staff: Work closely with healthcare providers, medical assistants, and administrative personnel to ensure smooth coordination of medical record scanning. Address any concerns or questions related to document scanning and assist in retrieving specific records as requested.
- Troubleshoot Equipment Issues: Monitor the functionality of scanning equipment and promptly report any technical problems or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Coordinate with IT support or vendors to resolve issues and ensure uninterrupted scanning operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in document scanning and familiarity with scanning equipment and software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Some Knowledge of medical terminology, record-keeping practices, and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in using document management software.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
