Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Promote safety first in all actions
- Drivers will report to the Terminal Supervisor
- Provide direction and guidance to all Terminal employees
- Support the safety team with reports, driver management and incident investigations as needed including managing the Terminal’s Smartdrive program with monitoring and driver counseling
- Communicate with internal and external customers as required and assure completion of customer reports
- Communicate with all Terminal employees regarding company and customer requirements
- Continually update knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Coordinate routine maintenance on equipment with shop techs/shop supervisor to prevent any PMs due from going past 100% as reported on the KPI dashboard
- Control and complete paperwork and reports, as required and manage to KPI billing dashboard goals for the Terminal
- Ensure drivers are at work when scheduled and verify all equipment is operational
- Review and make changes as needed to maintain the most efficient staffing of company units to achieve the highest utilization as possible
- Manage driver schedules, including scheduled days off, planned vacation, and sick leave
- Provide efficient friendly customer contact
- Ensure drivers meet all compliance guidelines, including scheduled training requirements such as Schoolhouse and Infiniti
- Fill in for Logistics Supervisors during time off / call outs by dispatching, including but not limited to the following: Review all inventories, build loads, and verify all loading or customer instructions are handled properly
- Receive and build non-inventory managed customer loads. Ensure delivery window accuracy
- Prioritize loads for timely delivery
- Work with Logistics Supervisors to assign loads to drivers in a fair and equitable manner
- Review and plan drivers’ work and ensure low leveling stores are planned and loads with window deliveries are planned to enable compliance with customer needs
Additional Responsibilities:
- Carries out duties assigned by Terminal Manager or VPO, as required.
- Work with and support the Sales Team to grow the business
- Responsible for overall operations and safety during the absence of the Terminal Manager
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:
- High School Education or equivalent
- One year experience as a fleet manager in transportation industry
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, federal and state standards
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Self-starter with detail-oriented work habits
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Display professional demeanor
- Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with wide range of individuals
- Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules
- Basic computer skills Strong Desktop and Administrative Skills
- Knowledge of basic company employment policies and procedures
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, and talking, hearing and visual activity.
- Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds).
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copier/printer/scanners.
