Job Title: Account Analyst

Summary:
The Account Analyst at Florida Tech plays a vital role in managing student accounts and ensuring timely payment of outstanding balances. This position provides exceptional customer service while overseeing the collection process for delinquent student accounts, from initial contact and payment plan creation to managing relationships with third-party collection agencies. The Collections Specialist is responsible for accurate record-keeping, dispute resolution, reporting, and adherence to all relevant regulations and procedures. This role requires strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion. Flexibility to adjust work schedules during peak periods is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Proactively contact students regarding outstanding balances and facilitate payment arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of delinquent student accounts within the Banner ERP system, including proper coding, notes, holds, and pre-collection actions for reporting purposes.
  • Manage the Student Accounts Receivable collections tracking system.
  • Process write-offs of delinquent accounts in Banner and transmit accounts to collection agencies.
  • Investigate and respond to disputes from collection agencies, preparing recommendations for settlement offers.
  • Track payments received from collection agencies and process invoices promptly.
  • Generate and distribute regular internal and external reports related to collections activity.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students and visitors, addressing inquiries and resolving issues with patience and professionalism.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and individuals within the university.
  • Proactively seek professional development opportunities through webinars, training, and other resources to stay current on industry best practices, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in collections, customer service, or a related field. Experience with higher education collections is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented with strong data entry and analytical skills.
    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and DocuSign.
    • Experience with ERP systems, particularly Banner and/or Workday, is highly desirable.
    • Strong computer file management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and laws related to debt collection (e.g., Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report
The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information and impose certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures, descriptions of prevention and awareness programs, related university procedures and important guidance, and other essential safety information.

Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
