The Academic Program Manager provides academic supervision for Vet Assistant and Pet Grooming programs and all relevant courses. The main tasks will be concentrated in five main areas : Teaching, Student Retention, Curriculum, Accreditation and Learning Assessment Processes. This includes teaching and demonstrations in the classroom, laboratory setting, blended or online according to program objectives and course syllabi and assessing student skills and supervising students in externship and / or capstone course. The Academic Program Manager develops daily lesson plans as teaching guidelines based upon the approved curriculum and ensures all learning goals for the courses are met. Academic Program Managers are Full-Time, exempt and directly accountable to the Dean or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Minimum Requirements :
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, or a related field.
At least three years of experience in veterinary practice, animal care, or pet grooming.
Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience at the college level; preferably in the proprietary school setting; and, a minimum of 3 years of work experience in field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Monitors daily student attendance within the program, provide necessary measures to ensure attendance (80%) and retention (minimum 70%) benchmarks.
Assists campus leadership with creating action plans for at-risk students and engagement strategies for non-traditional learners.
Teaches the externship course and / or other blended / online course not to exceed halftime teaching load per module.
Provides active support to the college administration (Dean or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs) to help achieve the goals and objectives related to attrition, placement, certifications, reentry, & laddering benchmarks and annual outcomes.
Ensures program operations, personnel, facilities and curriculum comply with state, accreditation and programmatic regulatory bodies.
Assists Academic Department with New Faculty Hiring, Orientation, Training Sessions, classroom observations and monthly instructor class assignments.
Mentoring for new faculty, ensuring consistency in course delivery and conducts peer evaluation fostering collaboration.
Recommends all field trips, guest speakers and other informational, or industry current events to Academic Dean.
Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and certification, state and federal guidelines related to the program or relevant certifications (NAVTA-Approved Veterinary Assistant, NDGAA Pet Grooming, etc.) and industry standard.
Evaluates affiliation agreements with the externship sites to ensure 150% availability.
Conducts site evaluations to ensure externship locations meet program standards.
