The Procurement Manager will play a vital role in ensuring cost-effective purchasing, maintaining supplier relationships and supporting operational excellence across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will bring expert knowledge of the construction/HVAC field practices, exceptional strategic thinking, and experience working in multi-entity environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing and Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies to source HVAC equipment, materials, and services that meet project requirements and company objectives. Identify, qualify and onboard new suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. Lead the centralization of procurement for high-spend categories (e.g. HVAC equipment, parts and tools). Analyze market trends and industry developments to optimize procurement decisions.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable delivery schedules. Evaluate supplier performance and address issues to maintain high-quality standards.
- Cost Management and Budgeting: Monitor and control procurement costs while achieving operational and financial goals. Collaborate with the finance team to forecast, allocate and monitor budgets for procurement activities.
- Operational Support: Work closely with local operating teams to better understand unique procurement needs and align them with strategic goals. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and alignment with project schedules. Implement inventory management practices to minimize waste and ensure the availability of critical components. Oversee inventory control process to ensure optimal stock levels across all locations. Collaborate with local teams to maintain consistent inventory reporting and cycle counting.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies in procurement activities. Identify and mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions or material shortages. Mitigate supply chain risks by developing contingency plans.
- Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and maintain procurement metrics, reports, and dashboards to monitor performance.
- Collaboration: Partner with the COO and operational leaders to align procurement and inventory strategies with business objectives. Act as liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPSM, PMP) are a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in procurement, inventory management or supply chain management, preferably in the commercial HVAC industry, or construction industry.
- Expert knowledge of HVAC equipment, materials, and industry best practices.
- Proven negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to manage budgets and assess risks.
- Familiarity with procurement software and tools; ERP system experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment
This position is hybrid and operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role also requires visits to off site warehouses where temperatures may vary with the seasons and stairs utilized to access multiple levels as needed.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a clean office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time; occasionally move about inside the office; operate a computer and other office productivity machinery; occasionally ascend/descend stairs; frequently pull and remove files from cabinets, occasionally in the basement and other areas; frequently communicate with various internal and external populations, including individuals representing legal and governmental agencies.
