Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating manual and CNC machining equipment, including making program edits on CNC machines. They will ensure components meet precise print dimensions and tolerances while using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and scales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and operation of manual and/or CNC machining equipment
- Ability to make program edits at the machine for CNC equipment
- Machining of components to meet print dimensions and tolerances
- Accurate parts measurement using tools such as outside micrometer, inside micrometer, depth micrometer, digital, dial and vernier calipers, and scales
- Maintaining an organized and safe work environment and help to drive improvements in the work center that will lead to increases in safety and efficiency
- Accurately completing all paperwork associated with tasks being performed
- Keeping up to date with all required trainings
Requirements:
- Typically 3 – 5 years' experience doing similar work
- Understands and buys into a zero-accident safety culture expectation
- Strong shop math skills including arithmetic, conversion of fractions to decimals, basic trigonometry
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/production drawings including tolerancing
- For CNC machines, a strong understanding of G-code and / or conversational programming
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Experience working with cast materials
- Experience with basic rigging and use of overhead cranes
- Firm understanding of turning and milling insert geometries and grades
- Understanding of basic cut conditions including appropriate feeds, speeds and depths of cut
