Our client is a leader in commercial construction, specializing in design/build solutions for warehouse, distribution, and industrial facilities. In business for over 30 years, they have a strong presence throughout the Michigan market and serve clients across the east coast.
They seek a Senior Project Manager, that will oversee key client projects ranging from $5M to $15M in value. This role will report to the VP of Operations. Additionally, this person will oversee a team of Project Engineers.
About the Role
The Senior Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of design/build commercial and warehouse projects. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of pre-construction, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large-scale projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead project development from concept to completion, including feasibility analysis and scope definition.
- Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to establish project requirements.
- Manage the design/build process, ensuring seamless coordination between design and construction teams.
- Provide value engineering solutions to optimize project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee design progress, ensuring compliance with project goals, codes, and industry standards.
- Maintain project financials, tracking costs, forecasting, and ensuring profitability.
- Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase agreements.
- Ensure timely billing, invoicing, and collections in collaboration with the finance team.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
- Provide regular project updates and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead project meetings, fostering collaboration among all project participants.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience managing commercial construction projects, with a focus on design/build warehouse and industrial facilities.
- Proven track record of delivering projects in the $5M–$15M range.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and permitting requirements.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or Primavera P6.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation & Benefit Information
- Salary between $120,000 - $150,000, dependent on experience
- 15% Profit Based Bonus, paid yearly
