We are looking for an Animal Shelter Assistant!
The purpose of this classification is to perform administrative/ clerical work functions associated with providing support to the Animal Control Department.

The purpose of this classification is to perform administrative/ clerical work functions associated with providing support to the Animal Control Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receives incoming calls concerning animal control issues (such as animal bites, potential animal abuse, stray/nuisance animals, wild/dangerous animals, injured/dead animals, etc.); determines necessary actions; dispatches staff members to problem areas.
- Receives money in payment of departmental fees or services; records transactions and issues receipts.
- Greets members of the public.
- Communicates via telephone and/or two-way radio; provides information and assistance; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel; returns calls as necessary.
- Responds to routine requests for information or assistance from officials, employees, the public, or other individuals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience in clerical/ general office work or a related field;
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
