What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Start Floater Teacher position at Floyd County Community Action Agency, Inc.?
Floyd County Head Start is looking to add a floater teacher to our Head Start Preschool and Early Head Start program! Our floaters provide staff support in the classrooms through covering daily lunch breaks or covering a full time staff member's absence.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Assist teaching staff in assigned placement including but not limited to engaging children in planned activities under the direction of classroom staff
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment to support the development and learning of each child
- Engage in two-way communication appropriate to the level of each child
- Use effective classroom management strategies including active supervision
- Follow and participate in all emergency drills
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to all confidentiality policies in accordance to federal, state, and local regulations and agency policy
- Cover breaks for classroom staff for 30 minutes per staff member
- Develop positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA preferred
- Experience working with young children in school or daycare/group settings
- Provide reliable, regular attendance to maintain consistency for children and classroom staff
- Ability to work as a member of cooperative team
- Ability to use a computer to communication, store, and retrieve date as well as access the internet
Schedule:
- 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 8AM-3PM
- Works/paid 40 weeks of the year (off fall break, winter break, spring break, and summer break)
Pay:
- $14.56/hour for the first 65 working days then $15.00/hour upon completion.
