ROLE SUMMARY
Post-Harvest Lead is accountable for all aspects of the tracking and quality production associated with post-harvest activities in the facility. The Post-Harvest Lead leads the Trim team. This role works closely with the Post Harvest Manager, Cultivation Supervisor, Facility Manager, and Partners to maintain harvest schedules and necessary inventory levels. This role completes tasks themselves as needed to ensure the safe, accurate and timely production of products. Often coordinates with other site leadership regarding inventory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for assisting the Trim Manager in leading a team of trimmers to accurately harvest, hang, monitor, buck, trim and weigh finished cannabis flower.
- Oversee SOP’s within the drying room which includes monitoring of harvest batches, moisture analysis, quality assessment and quality controls.
- Helps to manage the Trim department which includes implementing standard operating procedures including accurate inventory transfer from the drying room, ensuring appropriate moisture content for proper flower storage, quality assessment of flower, hand trim vs machine trim assessment.
- Tracking batches of flower for bud quality, size, density, machine trim results and other requested data points.
- Examine plants out of the dry room for signs of pests or disease.
- Ensure a high standard of quality during all harvest processes.
- Ensure adequate staffing for departments to operate 5 days a week.
- Clean work areas and maintain tools in accordance with sanitation standards.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Good Production Practices (GPP) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Maintaining a continuous focus on safety, injury prevention in all aspects of production work.
- Take instruction and assist with tasks delegated by the management team.
- Motivate and encourage through positive communication and feedback.
QUALIFICATIONS
Production Horticulture degree or a degree in Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture, or equivalent commercial growing experience is preferred
- Two years of prior nursery, landscaping, and/or cultivation experience
- General knowledge of weights and measures
- Knowledge and experience with large scale commercial plant cultivation preferred Strong understanding of genetics and plant care including a comprehensive knowledge of flower strains.
- Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing and harvesting medical cannabis products
- Strong attention to detail and safety
- Ability to work in varying conditions
- Experience with inventory control methods
- Follow all safety standards and abide by GMP/PPE requirements
- Experience with seed-to-sale tracking systems is preferred

- Must be able to multitask while maintaining great attention to detail and focus
- Show organizational skills and initiative, excellent verbal and written communications skills, proactive problem-solving, time management, discretion and confidentiality are essential attributes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has supervisory responsibility of the Post-Harvest Team.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in cultivation and manufacturing environments. This role routinely uses cultivation processing equipment and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods; walk; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Must be able to individually lift 25 to 50 lbs. Excellent attendance is required.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Typical work hours will range from 7am to as late as 5pm, Monday – Friday but could require weekend work as needed.
COMPENSATION
OPEN, depending on experience
TRAVEL
Any necessary travel is primarily local during the business day. Non-local travel should not be required for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATON and EXPERIENCE
Minimum High School or G.E.D equivalent required
Production Horticulture degree or a degree in Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture, or equivalent commercial growing experience would be preferred.
Two years of prior nursery, landscaping, and/or cultivation experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Per state law, must be at least 21 years of age
Must successfully complete a comprehensive, Level 2 FBI background check
Must pass a drug screening
Must have reliable transportation and valid ID
