Job Summary:
A specialist in new business development, this position does extensive research and networking to identify and land new business leads, which are qualified and initiated before turning over to regular sales force for further development. This position is responsible for generating new sales volume and targeting account development and competitive account penetration. The position focuses on end users and industry influencers including A&D, brokerage and project management.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead Generation
- Networks for leads (business groups, real estate brokers, A&D community, local community organizations, industry organizations—IFMA, BOMA, NDID, etc.); develops relationships with key influencers (A&D community, real estate brokers, property managers, project managers, developers, general contractors, etc.).
- Research for leads through business journals, newspapers, industry periodicals and publications, internet, etc.
- Puts together a formal marketing plan and budget for generating new business for dealership; plan is reviewed and revised on a regular basis (monthly) as needed.
- Develops target account list of potential clients, including major corporations, local/state/federal government business, educational entities; uses deliberate, measurable long-term plan to penetrate these accounts.
- Works with Haworth representatives and corporate account groups to target opportunities for sales.
- Educates the market on depth of services, i.e. relocation and decommission, architectural products, branding, etc. and positions Fluid to be thought of for these service opportunities.
- Conducts a professional, cooperative interface and provides frequent and regular follow-up with the A&D and other industry influencers.
Qualification & Account Turnover
- Qualifies leads to potential customers and executes a detailed need analysis to understand client’s requirements for furniture products and services.
- Research client's core business to completely understand client and market factors that impact client's business.
- Sets up contact with account/lead and sometimes other sales staff to present Fluid’s products and services.
- Makes presentations to customers on Fluid’s products and services in person, through written/graphic documentation and electronic means.
- Brings other sales staff into accounts/leads to gain familiarity with client and internal contacts.
Customer/Account Interfaces
- Is available, responsive and timely to customer inquiries, requests for information and/or problem resolution, etc.
Miscellaneous
- Meets monthly, quarterly and yearly sales and margin goals as set by Executive Vice President.
- Works with marketing staff to develop professional materials and presentations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required
- 2-3 years of experience in contract furniture design and specification is highly preferred
- Must have excellent time management skills
- Possess organizational and prioritization skills
- Self-driven, proactive, and willing to take initiative
Other Job Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Must be available to work after hours and weekends if needed.
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
