Scope: The Control Systems Design Group works closely with Control Systems Engineers and provides detailed design necessary to locate, install and interconnect a wide variety of complex instruments components, necessary to control a modern d ay process plant. All design and engineering work is performed in compliance with Fluor standards & practices and applicable Codes. Practical experience can be gained through short-term field assignments during which time the Designer assists in systems installations and checkouts and testing. Control Systems Designer Responsibilities: • Performing 3D modeling using Smart 3D (S3D) and utilize other instrument and control system design software such as SmartInstrumentation (SI). • Designers are involved in the preparation of drawings including the location of instruments, instrument hook-ups, network and fiber layout diagrams, signal interconnections between controls systems components, wiring diagrams or wire lists for the termination of all instruments. • Designers are involved in control system and instrumentation material requirements and material take-offs using automation software and spreadsheets • Opportunities are provided for Designers to become familiar with, and to become competent in dealings with: o Complex engineering systems, instrumentation and controls for large mechanical and process plant equipment, conveyors, and electrical motor control relays, Fibre Network, PLC and DCS layout designs as well as interact with other engineering disciplines like mechanical, process, structural, plant design and electrical in a project setup.• Graduating with a Diploma from Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology or Equivalent in 2024/2025. • Qualified candidates must possess strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. • Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, database management software, and electronic presentation programs. • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors. • Required to have good working knowledge of 2D CAD drafting and are required to work in a computer-based 3D design environment. Previous experience using CAD, AutoCAD, MicroStation 2D and Intergraph 3D is a definite asset, but in-house training is available.To be considered for this position you must submit a copy of your current Resume and Transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
