Fluor Plant Engineering is part of Fluor Corporation based in the U.S., a professional and technical solutions provider focusing on Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Maintenance (EPCM) with more than 45.000 employees and 34 offices in 50 different countries worldwide. Fluor offers Project Management and EPCM support in all phases of the project life-cycle based on the following three business groups: Energy Solutions Urban Solutions Mission Solutions Fluor Plant Engineering office is part of the E&C Energy Solutions Sustaining Capital Projects Business Line. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support our Projects in Tarragona Office, joining our local team. This position supports on assigned projects through the following Key Responsibilities: • Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work • Review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects • Review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts • Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria • Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design • Review and approve vendor lists, prepare quotation requests/bid tabulations/purchase orders and review substitutions for technical acceptability • Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate or complex engineering problems • Establish and lead the squad check effort for vendor equipment documentation for assigned equipment • Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution • Support proposal and estimate activities • Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change orders • Execute project work in accordance with approved Activity Plans • Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards • May need to travel to attend to business related matters • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality • Other duties as assigned• Establish equipment requirements and prepare equipment data sheets for mechanical equipment including unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, pressure vessels, rotating or packaged equipment • Evaluate dimensions, equipment connections, and equipment performance including pressure profiles, heat transfer rates, and off-design cases • Provide equipment sizing and application support to project development or process • Participate in material selection for equipment • Develop and revise equipment lists, narrative specifications, equipment standards, equipment general arrangement and outline drawings • Participate in supplier/contractor bid clarification, negotiation, and/or award meetings • Represent Mechanical and participate in model reviews • Provide consultation during fabrication and witness testing of equipment • Provide consultation and/or on-site assistance for the installation, commissioning, and/or start up of equipment • Intermediate knowledge of design of mechanical equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioning Education, Experience & Skills: Accredited five (5) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements • Experience on Mechanical strenght calculation (Compress, Autopipe Vessel, PVElite or similar) • Experience on Heat Transfer calculation (HTRI, EDR or similar) • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
