Job Description
The Director of Sales and Service will assist, direct, and coordinate the activities of the Sales and Service team, either personally or through subordinates. The role focuses on business development, client retention, commercial acumen, margin improvement, and fostering cross-functional relationships. This individual will manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs), tenders, menu presentations, contract negotiations, and menu/equipment specifications. Additionally, the Director will support the Costing and Pricing Department and liaise with Unit General Managers, their teams, and all Corporate Departments.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned airline accounts and FFG units.
- Manage large strategic accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and account retention.
- Oversee account margin and profitability, ensuring alignment with set P&L goals.
- Lead contract negotiations in collaboration with corporate support teams.
- Conduct account performance reviews in partnership with customer and operational teams.
- Attend customer performance review meetings, ensuring actionable insights are communicated.
- Coordinate, animate, and follow up on menu presentations for all assigned customers.
- Work closely with the development team on menu development based on customer specifications, trends, and operational guidelines.
- Log and communicate all account activities, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate records.
- Understand and contribute to the development of pricing and costing strategies.
- Collaborate with Unit General Managers to ensure all operational procedures and customer requirements are met, including conducting unit audits as necessary.
- Lead conference calls with FFG Account Managers to review performance, address operational issues, and implement corrective actions (as needed).
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Vice President of Airline Sales and Service.
- Be responsible for delivering the “wow” factor in account management, ensuring exceptional service and customer satisfaction
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, Hospitality Management, Foodservice Management, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in inflight catering operations, sales, customer service, business development, and finance.
- At least 5 years of experience specifically in customer service.
- Strong team orientation, with a detail-oriented approach to tasks.
- Excellent communication, management, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Competency in one or more foreign languages is required.
- Adaptability to foreign cultures is essential.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
