Job Details
Job Purpose
To inspect work site and identify problems and provide the necessary maintenance for minimal production interruption. The maintenance supervisor will prepare weekly schedules for allocating work as per forecasted workloads and employ technicians that can be assigned tasks accordingly to make sure deadlines are met with accuracy. The maintenance supervisor will also ensure repairs are done quickly, minimizing long lead times before something needs replacing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintenance Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that all building systems, equipment, and facilities in their charge operate at peak efficiency.
- Responsible for resolving issues that arise to keep both building maintenance activities running smoothly or take care of any repairs needed on-site if there's an emergency.
- The MS also need a detailed understanding of how each aspect works within FM Meat Products so they can make informed decisions quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions with a solid understanding of building repairs.
- Responsible for resolving issues that may come up in the workplace such as staff problem or equipment malfunctions.
- Coordinate the work assignments as received from the Maintenance Manager and the onsite work order system to ensure jobs are completed within established standards.
- Ensure reliability of plant equipment and maintain downtime at 3 minutes per shift for the production areas assigned. Meet downtime and operational goals for outlying areas such as ground beef, warehousing, wastewater treatment and rendering, as established by Plant Manager.
- Recruit, coach, and train maintenance technicians.
- Actively involve maintenance personnel in HAACP reviews and ensure their expertise is used to improve food safety wherever applicable.
- Maintain close communications with operations and other plant departments and develop an appreciation for overall plant performance issues in all employees within the area.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role
- Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.)
- Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations
- Understanding of budgeting and performance management
- Excellent planning and leadership abilities
- An eye for detail
- Computer savvy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma: Degree from a vocational school will be a plus.
- Professional Certifications (e.g. CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred.
