BSA Behavioral Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide mental health care services to patients across various settings in Texas. The PMHNP will assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including medical and mental health histories.
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders in accordance with the DSM-5.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including psychotherapy and pharmacological interventions.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
- Provide patient education on mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication adherence.
- Collaborate with therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Utilize evidence-based treatment approaches and stay updated on the latest psychiatric research.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with HIPAA and state regulations.
- Offer crisis intervention and risk assessment for patients experiencing acute mental health crises.
- Participate in case conferences, training, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Master’s (MSN) with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health.
Licensure & Certification:
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Texas with PMHNP certification.
Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) from ANCC.
Experience: Preferably 1 year(s) of experience in psychiatric/mental health settings, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
Skills:
o Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.
o Proficiency in prescribing psychotropic medications and managing side effects.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
o Knowledge of Texas mental health laws, telehealth regulations, and insurance procedures.
