Amidst the challenges posed by climate change and a growing rural population, our local food system is at a critical crossroads, necessitating a shift towards Climate-Smart Agriculture and facilities to convert raw produce into value added produce. This shift includes controlled environment agriculture, regenerative farming, and other sustainable practices, paving the way for FMG Farm to become America's second-largest garlic producer, capturing 25% of billion-dollar U.S. garlic market annually.

Who we are:

We are a bunch of people who care deeply about agriculture, food and the challenges farmers face to help nature feed a growing population. FMG Farm is a minority owned family farm enterprise consisting of 60-acre row crops, a USDA WIC approved farmer’s market, a USDA funded 501(c)(3) non-profit Community Kitchen, bottled water label and Greenhouse operation looking to hire a full-time Operations Manager Farm Family. Working closely with the owner, being responsible for overseeing equestrian and livestock care, all while ensuring safety and consistency.

The farm has a three bedroom / two bath Barndominum for Farm Family accommodation (water, power, septic inc.) situated around a 5-acre lake. These amenities provide a Farm Family with a rich and earthy experience to enjoy the simple pleasures of country living, along with the connectivity and conveniences of city life.

What Are Farm Family Jobs? A farm family job involves a couple or female with children working as live-on caretakers on a farm serving as the owners trusted partner and second-in-command of day-to-day operations requiring someone who can work anticipating needs and identifying potential challenges before they arise, and ensuring smooth operations across the farm.

What is the Qualifications to get this Farm Family Job? The qualification we seek is Loyalty first, then willingness to learn to become a partner - owner. A degree is not required, as “farming is a lifestyle, not a job”.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 1 year of organic / regenerative agriculture production experience
  • Enthusiasm for local and sustainable agriculture
  • A problem solver, willing to learn and open to feedback.
  • Excellent people skills with an upbeat personality
  • High degree of customer service and effective communication skills
  • Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn new tasks.
  • Bilingual preferred.

About the job

The Operations Manager at FMG Farm, will shape the farm's expanding regenerative agriculture program, focusing on ecosystem support, animal welfare, and food production.

Position Overview:

The Operations Manager is charged with carrying out FMG mission of being a community-based hub for regenerative food, agriculture and equestrian resources creating a thriving regional Farmer Market and Community Kitchen food system connecting farmers, ranchers & culinary professionals around shared values of regenerative food, health, wealth & equity. You have a vital role in managing the daily operations of FMG farm, farmer market and Growers Alliance, 501(c)(3) charitable organizations ensuring efficient, sustainable, and productive agricultural practices. We are looking for someone to be a partner not just employee, as the position requires an Ag Equestrian mindset who understand crop production both greenhouse and row crop, soil health, animal care, farm equipment operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Farm Production & Crop Management – Oversee planting, cultivation, and harvesting of crops using regenerative and sustainable farming techniques.
  • Animal Care – Ensure proper feeding, housing, and health monitoring of farm animals in alignment with ethical and holistic care practices.
  • Equipment & Grounds Maintenance – Operate and maintain farm machinery, irrigation systems, and infrastructure to ensure efficiency and longevity.
  • Compost & Waste Management – Implement composting programs and sustainable waste management strategies to support soil health and environmental responsibility.
  • Collaboration & Community Engagement – Work as marketing person to showcase farm initiatives, participate in educational events, and engage with the local community to promote sustainable agriculture.

The Operations Manager will maintain an aggressive marketing program for the farmers market and community kitchen developing and executing a cohesive marketing strategy to enhance brand awareness, drive customer engagement, and support business growth driving sales and revenue growth while building brand equity through a focus on our four primary lines of business: 1) Culinary (Community Kitchen (events, gatherings & specifically promote local Ag)), 2)Farmer Market (food), 3)Farm/Regenerative Agriculture, and 4) Greenhouse.

Will receive a $10,000.00 hiring bonus to independently create all aspects of marketing, from strategy to execution using common sense, good humor, and a “roll up your sleeves” attitude. You will build a Brand Strategy, Marketing Plan, and Website as building blocks to reap profits from value-added food processing. A wide variety of agricultural products is raised in Georgia. And many people living in nearby large urban centers are willing to pay more for unique and sustainably grown products and value-added processing allows FMG to capitalize on this consumer interest.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct market research to identify target audiences, market trends, and insights.
  • Set marketing goals, budgets, and key performance indicators to track success.

Business Development:

  • Develop and lead strategies to increase awareness and sales at the Farmstand through various channels, including online and offline marketing approaches.
  • Collaborate with owners to promote farm operations, including direct-to-consumer sales, wholesale, on-site retail, and partnerships.
  • Promote engagement in farm events to promote attendance at on site culinary and farmer market shopping events.

Communications & Branding:

  • Manage a cohesive marketing plan that effectively communicates with both internal and external audiences.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistent brand messaging and presence in the local community and regional food system.
  • Create compelling messaging to engage customers and stakeholders.
  • Own and produce the farm’s monthly newsletter, including layout design, copywriting, image curation, delivery, and reporting.
  • Maintain and update a marketing calendar to coordinate events, campaigns, and content releases.

Digital & Social Media:

  • Manage all aspects of the farm’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), including content planning, creation, posting, and performance tracking.
  • Oversee website updates and content management to ensure a strong online presence (technical support not required).
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive customer acquisition and retention through digital channels.

Pay: $500.00 - $75,000.00 per year
