FMI - The Food Industry Association: We are hiring a Senior Manager of Meetings & Events (Hybrid Role)
Are you a detail-oriented events professional who enjoys planning and executing impactful events? If so, we want you on our team!
Quick Snapshot: In this role, you'll drive the planning and execution of mid- to large-size conferences. From venue selection and negotiations to sponsorship fulfillment and on-site event management, you’ll ensure every detail is executed according to plans. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, CVBs, and external vendors to deliver high-quality experiences that support our mission and engage our audience.
What You’ll Do in This Role:
- Event Planning & Logistics: Lead the full planning process, from site selection to post-event evaluation.
- Vendor & Hotel Management: Negotiate contracts, oversee AV, catering, transportation, and room blocks.
- Branding & Communications: Coordinate signage, promotional materials, and event marketing efforts.
- Budget & Financial Oversight: Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effective execution.
- Sponsorship Fulfillment: Assist in sponsorship prospectus development and ensure sponsor commitments are met.
- On-Site Execution: Travel to events, conduct pre-conference meetings, and oversee all logistics on-site.
Education and Skills You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in event/conference management or hospitality.
- At least five to seven years of experience in meeting and event planning.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, budgeting, and basic accounting principles.
- Knowledge of Social Tables is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
