Primary Purpose:
The Materials Manager will manage and coordinate the activities relating to materials, inbound, outbound and internal. The manager will oversee materials operations and execute tasks to support receiving, shipping and production. The manager will also work closely with purchasing on incoming materials and plan appropriate warehouse activities to support deliveries as well as ensure all materials are on site when needed for production or shipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct, manage all material movements into, inside and out of the facility.
- Develop, train and continuously improve material management policies and procedures.
- Develop, maintain and report on key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the material management operations.
- Lead and attend daily meetings with other managers to coordinate activities to achieve daily material requirements and efficient use of the warehouse space.
- Develop a warehouse plan on the storage of all raw materials and finished goods and communicate material movements for incoming and outgoing goods.
- Other responsibilities to be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management and/or warehouse management.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively manage material flow and work effectively with purchasing and the facility staff.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills that can be demonstrated and implemented.
- Must be adept at handling pressure in various customer situations and working well under deadlines.
- (Preferred) Belted in lean principles to include: Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, Six Sigma, and 5 Why.
- (Preferred) Proven experience in change management and development of standard operating procedures.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree with a major in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or similar discipline preferred.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Supervise inventory control team of 3-4 people.
