What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Supervisor position at Focal Point Fixtures, Inc.?
Position Summary:
Responsible for planning, supervising, and assigning work to employees involved in building, machining, finishing and loading products according to drawings and blueprints.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plans, lays out and supervisors all work of the shop; advises personnel on solutions to problems or modification needed to complete projects
- Assigns individuals to work details and inspects work in progress and upon completion, to insure that it meets FPF Standards.
- Supervisors the operations and maintenance of equipment, research parts and equipment to ensure proper working order
- Creates Bill of Ladings for each project to be delivered, including cabinets, tops, hardware etc.
- Help create products with Project Managers and Drafters to find the most cost effective and most efficient process of fabrication
- Works with purchasers on a daily basis to ensure product is fully up to stock
- Conducts 90day and annual reviews with employees
- Conduct interviews and tours of the plant with with possible new employees, vendors, clients, etc.
- Manage Production meetings with Project Managers on current projects and schedules
- Works with human Resources on safety, disciplinary actions, coaching employees and employee applicants
- Fill in where and when needed to get projects completed by due dates
- Maintain employees clocking in and out of correct jobs/tasks through the day
- Log inventory as unloaded during the day and put away where it needs to be.
- Keeping the shop organized and running as smoothly as possible each day
- Working with IT on improving machining, logistics and security
- Works with the estimators on different projects involving oddities and one off projects
- More items/projects throughout the day to accommodate the ever changing schedule
- Review prints before, during production to ensure proper items were ordered and if not meet with the purchaser to make sure items missing, forgotten are ordered promptly
- Stay in contact with Projects Managers on a daily basis on shipping projects early or moving around products to keep trucks full and or not so empty to save FPT money
- Working with human resources and the Safety Team to ensure safe working environment
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Need to have at least 7-10 years cabinetry experience
- Ability to supervisor 30 employees
- Ability to operate and train employees on a variety of different equipment
- Must be able to stand long periods of time and lift over 50lbs.
- Safety knowledge is a must
- Ability to operate a forklift

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
