SCHOOL COUNSELOR - High School
Terms of Employment : Until the end of the current school year
Compensation: Pays up to $55 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the Charter. Essential Responsibilities:
- Strong writing skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
- Maintain a good rapport with all constituencies; students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills and leadership qualities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as a School Counselor
- Master’s degree preferred; School Counseling; Certified School Counselor or experience as a school-based mental health provider
- A minimum of 2 yrs. counseling experience , school counseling experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with and commitment to working with high school-aged children in Grades 9-12, including an understanding of their developmental, social, and academic needs
- Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children’s Educational Software, etc.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to diversity issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups
- Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning to increase student achievement
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
- A shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to the core principles of equity, inclusion, and access
