JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Sales Catering Manager is responsible for actively selling and servicing events to include corporate catering and various group segments, as to be determined. Servicing of events includes menu planning, agenda setting, and hotel event services. The Senior Sales Catering Manager will oversee each event from the initial inquiry through the post event phase of the program. The Senior Sales Catering Manager will provide day-to-day supervision and support to on-property Catering Sales team members. Responsibilities also include solicitation of new customer relationships and negotiation of business through proposal and contracts to close business and fostering all internal customer relationships to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout the contracting, pre-event, event, and post-event phases of events.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handling the contracting and planning of event inquiries in designated market segment(s).
Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel including room rental, food and beverage, and other revenue generating opportunities.
Supports and promotes team accountability to drive superior business results, including successful execution of Sales strategies and business processes.
Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors.
Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed individual quarterly and annual Sales Upsell booking goals through proactive sales efforts via telephone, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
Negotiates effectively to achieve maximum revenue for hotel while meeting and/or exceeding client’s needs and provides support to Catering Sales team in their negotiating efforts as needed.
Detailing of meetings and events based on client specifications, including space requirements, times, equipment, menus, décor, staffing, etc.
Communicates effectively with the operational departments to ensure a seamless experience for the client.
Generates contracts, prepares appropriate paperwork, including banquet event orders (BEOs), coordinates with the appropriate operational departments, resolves any issues, complaints, or problems to ensure a quality product delivery and customer satisfaction.
Executes and supports the administrative aspects of booked business (proposals, contracts, customer correspondence).
Conduct site inspections to showcase hotel and close business.
Respond promptly to all sales inquiries within designated market segment(s).
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Previous catering, convention services, or sales support experience preferred in a large convention hotel. Other relevant event, meeting planning, or hotel operations experience will be considered.
High school education required, college degree preferred.
Must be proficient in event contractual agreements, strategic negotiations, quoting pricing, and the management of accounts.
Ability to analyze reports and develop and implement strategies to improve outcomes and top line revenue
Proven track record of building and maintaining business relationships that result in meeting or exceeding Sales Upsell booking goals.
Ability to think clearly, quickly and strategically to make concise decisions.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
Knowledge of local market trends and industry best practices.
