The Groundman/Operator position is responsible for operating plant equipment to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps and storage bins; control stockpile inventory of materials and perform light plant maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily pre-shift/post-shift plant inspections and document items in need of repair or service.
- Start/stop plant operations.
- Light maintenance to include greasing the plant weekly or more frequently as needed; replace grease hoses, repair washdown hoses, etc.
- Monitor belts, gear boxes and transfer points.
- Maintain safe house keeping in the plant.
- Heavy equipment operation as needed.
- Assist maintenance techs when plant is down.
- Other duties as required.
Experience and Skills:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
- Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer/company needs.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
- Able to lift in excess of 50lbs.
- Able to perform physical labor.
- Understand proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
- Team-oriented
- Self-motivated
- Ability to comply with and follow Company and MSHA safety rules/regulations.
- Exposure to natural work environment to include hot and cold temperatures as seasons change.
