Seventh & Dolores Steakhouse, or 7D, is founded on a commitment to quality and honesty – naturally farmed and humanely raised foods prepared in simple, soulful ways. While the heart of the restaurant is a classic steakhouse, we imagine an experience and menu that is fun and contemporary. The rich, fertile land of California and the spectacular Pacific Ocean dictate the seasonally changing menu, but as victims of wanderlust, we also want to bring the energy and influences of our travels back to our home in Monterey County. As a prep cook you will assist in creating a culinary experience for our guests. You will prepare all food related items, assist in the receiving and stocking of orders, and work with the team to ensure setup and breakdown of the main kitchen are complete.
Part Time: Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 - 6:00. $20.00-$25.00 / hour when including tips!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow the station and master prep lists created by the kitchen leads and chefs.
- Work with the kitchen leads and chefs to prioritize the prep needs for the day and prep forecast for the week as well as any events.
- Assist culinary team by receiving orders, checking them in and putting away the order in the correct areas.
- Ensure all food products are stored properly and to the chef’s standards.
- Label, date and rotate all ingredients on shelves so they are organized and easily accessible.
- Accurately measure and weigh ingredients and seasonings to be used in all recipes and cooking projects. Do not modify.
- Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc. following practiced, proper sanitation standards.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, blanching foods, grinding meat, making soups, etc. following recipes created by chef.
- Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products prepped.
- Know and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
- Portion food products prior to cooking according to standardized portion sizes and recipe specifications. Do not modify.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work station, including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, speed rack, hot line pass and all refrigeration equipment.
- Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by standards set forth by the chef.
- Open/Close the kitchen properly, following the checklists for kitchen stations as outlined by the chef.
- Work as a team assisting others in opening/closing the kitchen. To be prepared for service or to efficiently close the kitchen.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the chef or manager-on-duty.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with chef, managers, co-workers and service staff.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out
- trash and recycling as needed to assist the team.
- Engage on Paylocity, the company’s HR platform.

Requirements
- Maintain exceptional hygiene and grooming habits.
- Maintain clean and correct uniform, knives, and tools appropriate for position.
- Arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled shift, be in your station and ready to work at scheduled start time.
- Take 30 minute, uninterrupted meal break as scheduled by the chef.
- Comply with all CA and company safety standards at all times.
- Have availability to work nights, weekends and holidays when needed.
- Excellent team player and able to maintain professionalism in fast paced situations.

Physical Requirements
- The ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 6 hours), walk, sit, reach, bend, stoop, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move 45 pounds is required.
- This position also requires continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills, and the ability to clearly speak, hear, see, and adjust focus.
