What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Land Use Technician position at Fond du Lac County, WI?
M-F; 8-4:30; Up to 37.5 hours per week, appx May through August, with flexibility in schedule dependent on candidate and dept. needs.
Key Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Conducting field inspections for land use and sanitary permit compliance.
- Assists departmental staff in conducting special studies, analyses, reports, and graphical displays (e.g. maps, charts, graphs, informational resources).
- Assists with inspection of Private On-site Wastewater Treatment Systems (POWTS).
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements
Pursuit of associate or bachelor’s degree in the field of Natural Resources, Planning, Geography or a related field.
Required or Preferred Skills
- Ability to read drawings and decipher construction plans to verify compliance with approved Land Use Permits.
- Knowledge of planning, zoning, land use and development principals and regulatory tools.
- Knowledge of email, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software (e.g. Microsoft Office products), and internet applications. Ability to utilize these to graphically portray and disseminate permit plans.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, independently establishes priorities, and complete tasks.
- Assist the general public and others in the office and in the field with application of county ordinances, state codes and statutes
- Must have valid driver's license in the State of Wisconsin and documentation of car insurance.
