What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Writer position at Fond du Lac Reservation?
- Responsibilities: Research, design and write grant proposals which address specific needs and goals established by the community, the Director of Planning and the Reservation Business Committee.
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Provide technical assistance to existing program staff in the areas of grant administration and grant development.
Ensure local, state and federal compliance and reporting requirements for grants are met.
Participate in meetings as necessary for grant matters, including site visits, conducting resident surveys, make presentations to community and Reservation Business Committee.
Participate in meetings with potential funders.
Develop a grants administration work plan which includes goals, objectives and measurable indicators for the grant to function.
Develop and maintain state and federal inventory process for grant funded items.
Appropriate work attire is required.
Must attend all mandatory department meetings.
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, databases and/or data entry, spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Ability to in a team environment as needed is required.
Knowledge of effective writing techniques is preferred.
Knowledge of strategic planning is preferred.
Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously is preferred.
Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind is preferred
Knowledge of Native American communities, culture, customs and beliefs is preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with Native American clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.

Travel is required.
