Job Description
- Teach a range of lower division psychology courses including General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Abnormal Psychology as well as more specialized courses such as Drug Use and Abuse, Indigenous Psychology, and Group Dynamics including maintaining office hours to assist students with coursework and academic concerns.
- Serve as the lead psychology instructor at the college facilitating departmental planning, program review/assessment, student outreach/recruitment, and curriculum development.
- Engage in professional development activities to stay current in the field of psychology.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with related disciplines at the college such as the Human Services and Chemical Dependency Degree programs and as well as with related agencies that employ graduates from these programs, K-12 schools, and other organizations, particularly in tribal communities which the college serves.
- Participate in institutional planning and student success initiatives
- Be able to teach using a variety of delivery methodologies ranging from in-person to online to hybrid/blended courses and including the use of learning management systems
- Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively in a multidimensional campus community, with a special focus on American Indian students as well as students with a broad range of skill levels.
- Exhibit a strong commitment to supporting diverse students through instruction, active participation in campus activities, and other college and state system-level initiatives
Salary Range:
$51,303 - $71,893 Annual
The above salary range is for initial placement only. If currently teaching within Minnesota State, current salary will remain the same.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree with a major in psychology or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (24 graduate quarter credits) in psychology
Preferred Qualification
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse student populations having a broad range of interests and skills
- Post-secondary experience in teaching psychology and related classes using a variety of delivery methodologies
- Prior teaching experience in a tribal and/or two-year postsecondary institution
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and assessment of student learning outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a student population encompassing a broad range of skill levels
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, including committee work
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
