Responsibilities
The incumbent in this role is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
Examples of Duties, includes but is not limited to the following :
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and proceduresOversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectivesEnsure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payableEnsure that accounts receivable are collected promptlyEnsure payroll is processed in a timely mannerEnsure that periodic bank reconciliations are completedMaintain the chart of accountsMaintain a system of controls over accounting transactionsRecommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operationsCalculate and issue financial and operating metricsPartner with the Vice President of Finance & Accounting to manage the production of the annual budget and forecastsCalculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to managementProvide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiationsCoordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual auditMonitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenantsComply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filingsQualifications
Ability to analyze complex issues, identify alternative solutions and communicate them effectively with management.Well organized and demonstrated strong problem solving skills.Familiarity and proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word and advanced skills with Excel.Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.Bachelor's degree or combination of ten years relevant education and experience preferred.Minimum of eight years experience in accounting / finance. Two years supervisory experience preferred.CPA license highly desirable.
