- Proposes and evaluates manufacturing process and equipment for assigned areas of plant
- Directs the development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment Evaluates expenditures for processes and/or equipment· Provides technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations
- Regular contact with others outside the work group
- Works closely with production and maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects
- Analyze tooling and equipment and select proper steps for solution
- Meet plant goals and standards in safety, quality, delivery and cost
- Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment in supporting SPQRC initiatives
- Must support plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost goals
- Must be willing to work any assigned shift, work daily, weekend, and holiday overtime as required
- Supports/implements the QS9000/ISO14001/(GMS) Global Manufacturing System compliance processes
- Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint – Intermediate level
- Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool – Intermediate level
- Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
- Good written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
- Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
- Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues
- Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
- Basic knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
- Position related experience – 6 years
- Relevant auto industry experience required – 1-3 years
- Areas of expertise include: Manufacturing, Assembly Process
- Leading product design for manufacturability and sustainability including:
- GD&T analyses
- DOEs
- Development of FMEA/PFMEA, “critical-to-quality” parameters
- Development of specifications for preventative and detection methods
- Process testing and validation
- Documentation of product requirements for equipment specification
- Process development for early concept and early prototype production through to start of production 90
- Technology research and development in design and manufacturing
- Process invention, development, trials, and testing that shape the design of the product
- Process release through detailed manufacturing instructions, workstation and line layouts, product trials, and prototype production management
- Factory design, layout, and simulation for:
- Line balancing
- Capacity simulation and modeling
- Part and assembly presentation
- Specification of hand tools for manual assembly tasks
- Data systems
- Yield studies
- Product launch and process validation
- Draft qualification protocols and manage process qualification activities.
- Lead and provide process validation/qualification documentation
- Utilize statistical tools (such as GR&R, SPC and Cp/pCk) to ensure processes/fixtures are performing
- Coordination with other process, equipment, mechanical, electrical and support disciplines including project managers, manufacturing reps, and other stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of GD&T principles favorable
- NX, SolidWorks CAD or ProE experiences a plus
- Simul8, AnyLogic, Flexsim experience is a plus
- Proficiency in the development and deployment of PFMEAs
- Knowledge of Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP)
- Six Sigma Black belt is advantageous
- Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools – robotic, vision, material handling, Conveyors, PLC, HMI, etc.
- Technical degree / Four Year Apprenticeship required or equivalent experience. One of the following:
- 8 years as maintenance technician / electrician technician
- Familiarity with high volume automotive manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of advanced mechanical / electrical concepts
- Knowledge of maintenance and construction standards and codes, and applicable laws and regulations
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- General knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems to include: basic electricity and electronics, controls and instrumentation, programmable logic control (PLC), robotics, mechanical drives and power transmission systems, fluid power and pneumatics
- Working knowledge of general maintenance principles, blueprint reading/schematics and welding
- Hands on mechanical and electrical capability, grasping complex systems easily, along with the ability to multitask in a highly flexible environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills for effective communication
- Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills to resolve unusual and difficult problems
- Strong interpersonal skills to work well with others; ability to train others
- Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC 5000 and Siemens HMI
- Knowledge to read / edit PLC programs
- Practical knowledge of associated process equipment operations, sequencing, error-proofing and diagnostic capabilities
- Knowledge of and ability to effectively use computer software as it pertains to maintenance needs
- Fanuc robotics programming and maintenance
- Welding MIG, TIG, brazing, ARC a plus but not required
