The SNAP Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in carrying out our mission of eliminating hunger in the Heartland by leading efforts within the Omaha-metro area to promote awareness and access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The SNAP Outreach Coordinator will engage with local non-profits, community groups, and individuals to educate them on SNAP eligibility, benefits, and the application process. This position will be responsible for organizing outreach activities, conducting presentations, and building partnerships to increase SNAP participation and help individuals and families access the food assistance support they need.

The SNAP Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in carrying out our mission of eliminating hunger in the Heartland by leading efforts within the Omaha-metro area to promote awareness and access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The SNAP Outreach Coordinator will engage with local non-profits, community groups, and individuals to educate them on SNAP eligibility, benefits, and the application process. This position will be responsible for organizing outreach activities, conducting presentations, and building partnerships to increase SNAP participation and help individuals and families access the food assistance support they need.
Your Mission:
- Outreach and Relationship Building: A vital part of this position will be to develop and implement targeted outreach strategies to raise awareness about SNAP. Included in this work will be to build and maintain relationships with local community organizations to promote SNAP and its benefits. Additionally, this position will attend community events, fairs, and workshops to provide information about SNAP and assist individuals in completing a SNAP application, ensuring that all required information is collected and submitted.
- Educational and Informational Support: To ensure our neighbors in need are aware of SNAP benefits and resources available, education is a key piece of our outreach work. This includes conducting presentations and educational sessions for community groups, partners, and other stakeholders about SNAP eligibility, benefits, and how to apply for benefits. To support outreach efforts this position will develop and distribute informational materials, including flyers, brochures, and digital content.
- Tracking and Evaluation: Track outreach activities, including the number of people reached, events attended, and applications completed. Assess the effectiveness of outreach strategies and recommend improvements based on feedback and results. Conduct surveys and gather feedback from community members and partners to evaluate the impact of outreach activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Commitment to the FBFH mission and values.
- Ability to engage with diverse populations and community groups, with cultural sensitivity and respect for all individuals.
- Knowledge of SNAP eligibility requirements, application processes, and benefits is a plus (training will be provided).
- Computer and technology skills around Microsoft Office, data management systems, and general technology.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders including community partners, clients, and team members.
- Consistent organizational skills with a passion for thriving in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to consistently commit to trustworthiness, dependability, and reliability.
- Ability to establish credibility, trust, and partnership at all levels in the organization.
- Ability to travel within Omaha metro area.
Your Story:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service, community outreach, or similar field required.
- An associate’s degree in social work, education, communication, or a related field is a plus.
- Relevant work experience can substitute for education.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization is a plus.
