Job Summary
The Chef Instructor role combines instructing, cooking, and entertaining in a dynamic setting. This hybrid FOH/BOH position interacts directly with customers while teaching and preparing food. We are looking for someone passionate about hospitality, with excellent people skills, a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively. All classes are taught using Food Lab menus and adhere to specific operational protocols.

Evening and weekend availability required
20-30 hours a week

Key Responsibilities:

-Lead cooking classes by instructing and guiding guests through Food Lab menus with live demonstrations and hands-on support.
-Manage class timing and flow to ensure an engaging and seamless experience.
-Execute Food Lab menus while being adaptable to any changes necessary to maintain brand consistency and focus on making the customer the hero in the kitchen.
-Demonstrate culinary expertise to engage and direct guests, troubleshoot issues, and accommodate dietary restrictions or allergens with guidance from the Executive Chef/Culinary Director
-Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere to ensure guests feel confident and celebrated in the kitchen.
-Collaborate with kitchen assistants to clean and reset the Food Lab space after each event.
-Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks to uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Culinary background through professional cooking experience or formal training.
Ability to follow Food Lab's branded menus and guidelines while teaching in an engaging, creative style.
Broad knowledge of ingredients, techniques, and cuisines with the ability to teach them effectively.
Strong multitasking skills and ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional people skills with the ability to entertain, educate, and connect with an audience.
Team player who works well with both guests and coworkers.
Certifications: TIPS and Serve Safe certified (or willingness to obtain)

Located on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado, Food Lab offers a unique and dynamic work environment, easy access to nearby restaurants and coffee shops, convenient parking, and a location right on the bus line.
