REQUIRED
- *Valid Texas Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
- *High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English;
- *Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; OR one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) or more years of experience on installation, maintaining Local Area Network (LAN). Three (3) or more years experience and training on WindowsServer(x). Three (3) years in utilization and training of software programs on desktop publishing, data base management, and word processing software Q&A, Windows (xp), Windows (7), Microsoft Office, Lotus Suite, Communication Software, and Food Service Management Software.
PREFERRED
CNA - Certified Network Administrator preferred.
SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates activities of Micro Computer Specialist II. Installs, modifies, and makes repairs to microcomputer hardware and software systems and configures, and troubleshoots computer network and associated assemblies. Oversees and operates department computerized Food Service Management Software. Provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assigns staff and schedules work to facilitate production.
40 POS Cash Sales; (annual sales of $1,000,000)
40 Storerooms Inventory (monthly inventory value $40,000)
Central Warehouse (monthly inventory of excess of $800,000)
Directs training and trains workers to operate computer and peripherals equipment.
Installs, configures, and operates department network.
Reads monitor and enters commands to help computer operators identify and correct errors.
Notifies programming and maintenance personnel if unable to locate and correct cause of processing error or failure.
Revises operation schedule to adjust for delays.
Recommends changes in software programs, routines, and quality control standards to improve computer-operating efficiency.
Consults with supervisors about problems such as equipment performance, output quality, and maintenance schedule.
Coordinates flow of work orders between cafeterias and office.
Drives personal and District vehicles to and from worksite; obeys all traffic laws.
Develops computer specifications to meet current and future department needs.
Participates in department strategic planning as it pertains to automation.
Adjusts hours of work, priorities, and staff assignments to ensure efficient operation, based on workload.
Consults with software and hardware vendors and other establishment workers to solve problems impending computer processing. Evaluates new software and hardware.
Evaluates proposed data processing projects to assess adequacy of existing hardware, and recommends purchase of equipment.
Assists in developing budget and monitors expenditures for computer hardware/software purchases.
Prepares equipment specifications and floor plans for installation in offices or departments.
Coordinates equipment installation and maintenance activities with operations to avoid disruption in communications and ensure efficiency of operations.
Attends staff meetings to report on and resolve recurrent data communications problems.
Attends vendor seminars to learn about changes in data communications technology.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Develops department policies and procedures.
Conducts interviews, counseling reports, employee evaluations.
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains confidentiality.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees.
Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises two employees in the Computer Division (Food Service Department). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
