Position Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The Assistant Controller will have primary responsibility for all accounting and reporting for the Company. As a critical part of the Finance team, the Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer to enhance reporting and analysis, implement process improvements and establish a finance operation that is poised for additional acquisition add-ons. Main responsibilities of this position will be:
- Lead, manage and develop accounting team, driving performance by setting goals and development.
- Partner with Controller, Chief Financial Officer and employees in other locations as needed.
- Lead and actively participate in business initiatives/projects.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual close process ensuring timeliness, efficiency and accuracy in information, as well as ensuring timely reconciliation of all accounts (to be performed by staff).
- Preparation of monthly financial analysis, financial reports and management and board decks.
- Partner with external auditors and manage audit requests to drive timely completion of annual audits.
- Drive efficiency, optimization and automation of business processes and develop accounting policies to standardize processes.
- Manage and coordinate with tax consultants on the preparation and filing of the Company’s tax return (sales tax and corporate tax filings)
- Developing and maintaining accounting policies for the Company including compliance with US GAAP
- Oversight of accounts payable
- Manage payroll-related accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Other duties, as needed and determined by the Controller and Chief Financial Officer
Key Qualifications:
- Accounting education and experience required; financial education and experience a plus.
- Purchase accounting experience is preferred.
- 5-10 years of accounting experience
- Must be process-oriented. Given the Company’s short history and explosive growth through acquisitions, there is significant opportunity for process improvement.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently. The Controller and Chief Financial Officer will always be available for discussion but ultimately the expectation is that this individual can work without being micro-managed.
- Hungry to learn and development.
- Analytical skills preferred.
- Experience with monthly reporting, but able to perform analysis on results.
- Management and leadership skills are important to properly guide staff in the proper direction.
- Problem-solving is important; but ability to implement solutions is even more important.
- Experience with Great Plains is preferred but not critical.
- Experience in a private equity portfolio company is preferred.
