Responsibilities
- Oversee the formulation of policies, protocols, and streamlined procedures aimed at cultivating a safety-centric workplace with an emphasis on injury prevention. Evaluate the actions of both the General Contractor and Subcontractors to ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety Policies.
- Conduct regular training sessions, exercise oversight, perform thorough compliance audits, lead investigations into incidents, and assess the prevailing safety culture.
- Take charge of investigating serious incidents that lead to lost time accidents. Utilize Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools to identify causal factors and develop proactive measures to eliminate deviations from established standards.
- Provide guidance and serve as a role model, mentoring full-time Health and Safety professionals, project managers, front-line supervisors, and general foremen to ensure the effective implementation of the 4Ps.
- Efficiently manage and monitor the Project’s Health and Safety budget in collaboration with the General Contractor Health and Safety staff.
- Direct the selection process for third-party Health and Safety auditors, consultants, and contractors.
- Implement a communication strategy aimed at fostering leadership engagement throughout management, front-line supervisors, foremen, technicians / craft personnel, and contractors. Cultivate a culture where Health and Safety is ingrained as a fundamental principle, not merely a priority.
- Introduce an observation program that focuses on pre-job / task activities, ensuring that the Job Safety Plan process extends comprehensively to cover the specific tasks assigned.
