SUMMARY
This position is responsible for administrative support to Safety Manager. This position is directly responsible for maintaining records and training material to ensure the company is in State and Federal compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be added/assigned.
Assist Safety Manager in following areas
Safety/Food Safety Program:
- Ensure that all policies, programs, and daily operations are in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and procedures.
- Review and update all required postings.
- Maintain records for EPA, Tailgate meetings, collection from field and disbursement to shippers
- Maintain proper documentation of trainings.
- Assist in accident investigations
- Maintain General Liability and Auto insurance claims administration files and records
- Assist Loss Control Administrator in developing progressive programs
- Assist with scheduling of Safety Meetings
- Inspect and replenish first aid kits
- Assist with crew sign up and orientations.
- Maintain records for Food Safety and equipment sanitation logs
- Maintain records for GAP’s, collection from field and disbursement to shippers
- Maintain Safety Audit Records
- Make presentations and provide explanations of food safety documents to foreman/supervisors as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic understanding of safety and food safety regulations. Computer literate in Microsoft office, i.e. Word, Excel, Access; ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Any associate degree or higher with 2 years experience emphasis in agricultural; or an equivalent combination of experience (6 years), education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position.
LICENSE: Valid Class A or B or C driver’s license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual/bi-literate in English/Spanish
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic high school/college
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Driving for long periods.
- Sitting for long periods.
- Light to moderate lifting (up to 40 pounds).
- Reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing and manual dexterity.
- Operating a computer, calculator, copier and typewriter involves repetitive hand arm movement.
- Entering data by touch requires the ability to hear computer alarms for errors.
- Communication via phone and radio
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to handle multi-tasks and work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. Must be able to deal politely with outside customers. Communication with other staff members involves making productive contact orally via the telephone/radio or in face to face
