Description of Work:
Performs routing cleaning and animal care in support of the operations of the Animal Control Facility.
Position responds to grievances and complaints regarding stray, nuisance, or rabid animals including the capture and containment of such animals. Uses technology to upload pictures of animals at the facility, assists in networking and providing information to approved websites.
The position will be responsible to obtain certification with Department of Corrections and work alongside inmates assigned to tasks at the Animal Control Facility.
Responds to calls regarding ordinance violations, stray animals, and rabies control. Including the capture and containment of such animals.
Ensures animal confinement areas are cleaned and maintained in a sanitary manner that complies with State mandates.
Feeds and gives water to confined animals, makes routine inspections of animals and their cages to monitor health, safety, and cleanliness of cage.
This position will require to work a rotating weekend, holiday’s and after hour work.
Assists interested parties in adopting animals.
Assists in vaccinating animals.
Maintains records, reports, logs and completes appropriate paperwork.
Must have a valid N.C. Driver’s license and clean driving records. Will be required to operate the Animal Control vehicles.
Minimum Education And Experience:
Graduation from High School with experience in animal control and care.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of animal handling, behavior and basic health needs.
Ability to use telephone and equipment.
Ability to be trained in the proper use of specialized animal control and care equipment.
Ability to be trained in Animal Co Possession of or ability to obtain certifications from DOC to work with inmates.
Possession of valid NC Driver’s license.
Candidate must have a working knowledge of County geography.
