Financial Analyst 

Department/Program: Finance 

Reports To: Director of Finance and Accounting 

Status: Salary Exempt 

Location: Hybrid 

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Financial Analyst is relied upon and is a critical team member ensuring the integrity of financial statements and supporting the ongoing accounting, financial and operational activities that help enable Fora Health to operate effectively and efficiently. This position requires: 

  • Knowledge of accounting concepts, financial analysis techniques and an ability to explain these concepts and techniques to others 

  • Proactivity and adaptability to the constant changes in the healthcare industry

  • Self-motivation and self-direction resulting in both identifying issues or opportunities and solving or capitalizing on those opportunities

  • A data-driven mindset with curiosity to explore new tools and techniques for accessing and translating data efficiently and effectively  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and identify and resolve discrepencies 

  • Review and provide backup for payroll processing and related activites 

  • Review accounts payable entries for accure data entry including appropriate coding and approvals and in rare cases, provide AP back-up support 

  • Administer the organization’s credit card program including the use of Concur for expense reporting 

  • Reconcile daily cash activity and prepare weekly accounts payable dispursement schedule 

  • Prepare monthly departmental financial analysis and and provide feedback and recommendations to department leadership 

  • Support annual budget preparation including template preparation, financial modeling, program guidance, and recommendations 

  • Create and update financial models for evaluating potential program or service changes 

  • Support the key operational programs with ongoing analysis and modeling to help drive efficiencies and improve program growth and effectiveness 

  • Coordinates and leads the annual external financial audit  

  • Review and track vendor and grant agreements 

  • Identifies and problem-solves issues as encountered using critical thinking, analytics and collaboration 

  • Continuously improve existing processes to enable increased accuracy and efficiency 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Acquires continually expanding skills in: 

  • Understanding of program mix and the environment of recovery 

  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with diverse cultures 

  • Understands the relationship between revenue recognition and claim submission to assure complete, accurate, and timely billing information is provided to accounting for the preparation of financial statements 

  • Establishes good working relationships and open communication with staff, clients, and funding sources 

  • Works closely with Finance team and the rest of the organization to develop and maintain a working relationship that enhances the goals of revenue expansion, quality, and improved cash flow 

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS 

  • No current supervisory function 

QUALIFICATIONS  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

  • Bachlors degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or related field 

  • 2-3 years accounting and/or finance experience preferred 

  • CMA or CPA preferred but not required  

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data 

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel (required) 

  • Experience with financial software applications 

  • Non-profit and/or healthcare accounting or finance experience preferred but not required 

  • Keen problem solving skills with the ability to identify and solve problems with minimal support 

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines 

  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance positions 

  • Exceptional ability to work independently using project management skills 

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to organization’s mission
