JOB OVERVIEW

The Accountant will be responsible for the maintenance of the company books and records. The Corporate Finance team will rely on the Accountant to record month-end journal entries, perform account reconciliations, prepare financial statements, and assist with other month and year-end closing processes. Providing insight into process improvement will be valued as the team strives for efficiency and simplification. Time management and a team-focused mindset are essential qualifications for this role.

JOB LOCATION AND REPORTING TO

This position will be based in San Francisco or in close proximity to San Francisco in order to be in the office on a semi-regular basis. We follow a hybrid work structure where employees work remotely and from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks (2 days/week at the office, periodic meetings in the office and annual company offsite). The Accountant reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting and supports a nationwide organization. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain accurate financial records for multiple companies and general ledger entries.
• Record month-end journal entries to ensure the accuracy of monthly reporting.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Conduct bank and account reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting. Ensure reconciliations are completed timely and accurately.
• Prepare, review, and support items provided to tax equity partners including financial statements and contract review.
• Manage project accounting, including recording and reviewing costs, revenue recognition, and profitability.
• Research and reconcile discrepancies and verify documents as prescribed by accounting procedures and policies.
• Commute to the San Francisco office to collect, report, and deposit checks received via remote access with bank accounts.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-5 years of experience in Accounting and/or Bookkeeping.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related fields.
• Corporate accounting experience required. 
• Experience in recording journal entries and other month-end processes.
• Thorough understanding of US GAAP. A basic understanding of IFRS is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software and ERP packages (experience with Sage Intacct is a plus but not a requirement).
• Experience with multi-entity structures. 
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written English).
• Ability to work autonomously towards deadlines and goals.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the organizational capacity to manage multiple projects/tasks with competing deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Strong creative problem-solving skills.
• Solar or real estate industry experience is a plus.
• Desire to work in a growing company in the renewable energy field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is primarily sedentary in nature and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk in front of a computer. Commuting and traveling to the San Francisco office is required on a regular basis, ideally 2x per week. Longer hours may be required on month, quarter, and year-end close deadlines.

Salary : $90,000 - $105,000
