You will work closely with a team of accountants to manage financial functions, including billing, grants management, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations and tax audits. Our ideal candidate uses strong analytical skills to create detailed financial reports and forecasts. To succeed in this role, you should also have a problem-solving attitude.

Position Description
Accountant will work with our accounting department's daily operations. You will work closely with a team of accountants to manage financial functions, including billing, grants management, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations and tax audits. Key Responsibilities
Contract Management
- Monitor and review contract terms, expenditures, and milestones; submit monthly, quarterly or final invoices to grantors as required and in a timely manner.
- Ensure awards are set up properly and that cost-sharing requirements are fulfilled.
- Support in the development, preparation, and finalization of project budgets and provide budget justifications.
- Collaborate closely with various departments and programs, funders, and government to execute and maintain contracts.
- Participate in contract closeout process; submit final financial reports and certificates.
- Monitor contracts for compliance with funding requirements, grant stipulations, and donor restrictions.
- Stay updated on funder requirements, relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance in contract administration.
- Conduct periodic audits and reviews to identify and address any compliance issues proactively.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for internal departments and external parties regarding contract-related inquiries.
- Develop and communicate financial reports supporting project status to relevant agency staff.
- Facilitate effective communication between stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment on contract terms and obligations.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams as needed to address contract-related challenges and resolve disputes.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with contract terms, including financial, legal, and operational risks.
- Identify potential areas of exposure or liability and recommend strategies for risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all contracts, amendments, and related documentation.
- Generate reports and analytics on contract performance, compliance status, and other key metrics as required.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits and reviews as necessary.
- Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community.
- Work within the framework of the agency's mission, vision, values, theory of change, and organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, restorative justice, trauma-informed work, and language justice.
- Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Background in and passion for working with low-income and immigrant communities around issues of affordable housing, land use, and/or immigrant & worker rights; familiarity with these issues in the Mission District and San Francisco, highly desired.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- Experience with accounting software; experience with Sage Intacct desired.
- Proven experience three years in contract administration, preferably within a non-profit organization or a similar environment.
- Strong computer skills, MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts, and using advanced formulas)
