Description
Capable of set-up and run production for all machines and related tools in the lathe department. Assist supervisor in scheduling and assist in keeping operators on task. Support the development, implementation, and enhancement of lean manufacturing concepts in an effort to continuously improve productivity, quality, reduce costs, and increase on-time deliveries.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with complex part programming for multi-spindle, multi-tool turning centers (G M codes and code programming), and live tooling
- Control tooling (inserts, chuck saws, collets, etc)
- Mentor operators in

- Proper parts handling procedures
- Coordinate completed orders for shipment or delivery
- Understand and be aware of all department machinery capabilities and limitations
- Correctly fill out all necessary paperwork including routings verification and corrections including:
- Print revision
- Part count & scrap count
- Completion of prior operators
- Final sign-off
- MRR paperwork as needed
- Assist in determining tooling and fixturing needs
- Assist and maintain lean manufacturing practices
- Coordinate chip collection as needed
- Monitor shop supplies as needed
- Monitor equipment & machines for safety and any mechanical issues

Qualifications
- Knowledge of all departmental machine capabilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Communication skills to train others as needed
- Basic math & geometry skills
- Material handling skills
- Materials knowledge
- Able to stand for up to 5 hours
- Able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds
- Able to occasionally lift up to 45 pounds
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years turning experience
- Technical or machining courses desirable
