Athletic Trainer Internship

Qualifications
- North Carolina Athletic Trainer License or Certification
- Affiliation with Local Practice
- CPR/AED certification
Requirements:
- Must have completed or be working towards a degree in Communications, Sports Management, Marketing, Business or a related field from an accredited college or university
- An outgoing personality and professional demeanor
- Someone who is serious about a career in professional or amateur team sports
- Must have knowledge of baseball
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, highly organized, strong work ethic; ability to present ideas clearly, concisely, and on time
- Adapts to change in the work environment and appropriately manages competing demands
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage his/her own individual projects
- Must be able to work all home games (including exhibition, All-Star Game and playoffs) both nights and weekends (end of May thru first week of August)
- Must have own transportation
Responsibilities:
- Meet Emergency Room doctor
- Prevent, diagnose, and treat injuries
- During home games (including exhibition & All-Star Game)
- During practice
- Have water and ice ready for players
- During home games (including exhibition & All-Star Game)
- During practice
- Respond to other emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions including cardiac abnormalities and heat stroke
- Dugout and Equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining of dugout after each home game
- Equipment
- Complete initial inventory of Jump Bag and contents prior to start of the season
- Jump Bag (and contents) should be stored in safe room at the ballpark or kept in your possession after each home game
- Jump Bag (and contents) should be stored in storage room in the off-season
- Notify Director of Baseball Operations for any restocking needs
Responsibilities (all Interns):
- Attire
- Game Day
- Kahki or black shorts
- Logo polo or logo t-shirt (both will be issued upon arrival during orientation)
- Athletic Shoes
- EVERYONE may choose to wear themed shirts or outfits for other games (ie: college night, July 4th, etc.) (not provided)
- Game Day
- Ballpark
- After the game
- Empty all garbage cans and take to dumpster
- After the game
- Refill garbage cans with new liner
- Clear firework debris (when necessary)
- Leave ready for next game
- If any player/coach/fan possessions are located, take them to our lost and found
- EVERYONE leaves together at the end of the night
- Communication is key
- Keep the whole team up to date on what’s going on
- Be honest with us and we’ll be honest with you
- Speak to us directly if you have any issues
- Community
- Make any community appearances that are asked of you (food drive, holiday, etc.)
- Confidentiality
- You are going to have access to a lot of information during this Internship and it is IMPERATIVE that you do not share any private info with anyone outside our team
- If you must think twice about saying it or posting it, don’t do it
- Pocket Schedules
- Delivery and restocking them as needed
- Schmoozing
- You will become very familiar with our Sponsors, season ticket holders, pub table owners and regular attendees.
- Be overly accommodating to the people that are helping us out
- Timeliness
- No excuses – be a responsible young adult
- Vacation
- Do not plan a vacation week with friends or family during the last week in June or the first week in July. We understand family events but prefer you plan accordingly.
- Video/pictures/promotions
- If you are ever having a slow day, collaborate with the other Interns and share ideas
- Weekly meetings
- We will have a meeting every Monday to discuss the upcoming week
- Comments, concerns, questions, things you would like to learn, etc.
