Child Care Aide - Floater

Reports to: On Site Child Care Director
Pay Grade: Grade 1, Step 1, $14.94 per hour
Hours/Schedule: 3 hours per day / 5 days per week / Monday - Friday / 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Job Summary: Child Care Aides assist the on-site director in maintaining a safe and orderly environment while participating with children in all activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Submission of completed TB Test results required
- Experience working with school age children
- Current CPR and First Aid training
- Be responsible, friendly, caring, personable, flexible, creative, and able to work well with little or no direction
Essential Job Functions:
- Communicate with the director regarding difficult individual child behavior.
- Complete required training.
- Ensure that an inclusive environment is in place.
- Assist with food preparation as directed by the director.
- Be present in the child care areas with children at all times during program hours, except in the case of an emergency.
- Follow licensing and school procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children in the program.
- Attend required meetings.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus. Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
Evaluation: In accordance with the Child Care and Preschool Staff Agreement on evaluation.
Terms of Employment:
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
