Job Summary
This position provides customer service to golfers at District golf courses while assisting in the operation of the course's pro shop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate the golf handicap service, point-of-sale, phone, and registration systems.
- Operate, organize, and balance a cash register. Prepare daily revenue reports and deposit daily receipts.
- Greet and provide direction to golfers and other guests.
- Perform customer check-in, coordinate flow of golf play, and conduct tee-time registration.
- Provide information to the public regarding the District golf courses, District and facility rules and regulations, safety guidelines, and Golf Services operations.
- Assist in the opening and closing of the pro shop and clubhouse.
- Sell merchandise, including golf equipment, snacks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Assist in maintaining a clean retail environment at the pro shop and clubhouse. Clean, sanitize, and deodorize restrooms and replenish supplies. Vacuum floors, dush, polish furniture, and remove trash.
- Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District's safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
- Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
- 1 year of experience in a customer service position in a retail environment.
- Must have and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire (training provided).
- Must have and maintain Illinois Mandated Reporter certification or obtain upon hire (training provided).
- Must have and maintain Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Basic knowledge of the game of golf.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Schedule: Variable schedule, average 10 to 25 hours per week during the main golf season (April - October).
Pay: $15 - 18 /hour.
