These positions are Hybrid Remote Work. The duties of this position are performed remotely as well as at our central office in Salem. The ability to report to Salem is required when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities.

What we are looking for:
ODF is looking for a Community Assistance Forester to:
- Implement and deliver statewide the ODF Urban and Community Forestry Assistance Program.
- Provide urban forestry technical services and leadership to local units of government, rural communities, civic and non-profit organizations, ODF and other state and local agencies, and schools and universities throughout Oregon’s 36 counties.
- Promote a resilient, diverse, and equitable urban and community tree canopy throughout Oregon.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in Forestry, or a related Natural Resource Program. At least one year of the experience must be at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities, AND A Bachelor's degree in Forestry or a related Natural Resource Program,
OR
Three additional years of related pertinent experience for a total of 6 years experience.
Required with in 1 year:
Current International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) arborist certification or the ability to obtain ISA Certified Arborist certification within 1 year of hire date.
Note: Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business. If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout. If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on top candidate to ensure a valid license and acceptable driving record.

- Demonstrated ability to establish, build, and maintain mutually supportive relationships and partnerships with aligned professionals.
- Knowledge of current "best practices" for urban forestry and Arboriculture.
- Experience communicating with community members, internal partners and external stakeholders clearly and persuasively. Comfortable with public speaking skills.
- Experience and knowledge working with underserved or historically marginalized residents, neighborhoods, and communities; firm understanding of social and environmental justice issues.
- This position is highly relationship and trust dependent. It is very important to have proven people skills as you are representing ODF with communities partners and stakeholders.
