Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Scientist to drive the development of next-generation oxygen electrodes for our iron-air long-duration energy storage system. As part of the Electrochemical Performance team, you will combine hands-on laboratory work with technical leadership to identify new chemistries and shape the roadmap for air electrode performance. You will collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing teams to transition prototype designs into scalable, manufacturable solutions. What you'll do :
Drive the research and development of next-generation oxygen electrode materials and designs to enhance system performance
Design and execute experiments to prototype, test, and validate new electrode chemistries and technical concepts
Analyze electrode performance data to identify improvement opportunities and inform future design iterations
Interface with strategic supply, engineering, and pilot manufacturing teams to transfer novel designs to manufacturing plan of record
Stay updated on emerging technologies and apply industry best practices to Form Energy's oxygen electrode R&D program
Mentor junior team members through the product development process
What you'll bring :
PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline with 10 years of industry experience in industrial electrochemisty; or master's degree with 12 years, or bachelor's with 15 years industry experience
Demonstrated technical leadership developing commercial gas diffusion electrode, fuel cells, electrolyzers or similar electrochemical system
Deep technical expertise in gas diffusion electrode, air electrodes, and electrochemical systems
Experience in a project team leadership position
Excellent communication and organizational skills
