**Position Overview:**
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Forman School is a key member of the leadership team responsible for the school's overall financial health and strategic oversight.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative and entrepreneurial financial leader who can partner with the Head of School and the Finance Committee to provide guidance and progress on financial matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership on financial affairs and creating a strong, disciplined, and achievement-oriented financial team.
- Advising, consulting, and strategizing with the Head of School on all financial aspects of the school.
- Partnering with the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team to develop plans to ensure that approved strategic initiatives are appropriately funded.
- Liaising with the Board and co-leading the Finance & Investment, Audit & Compliance, and Buildings & Grounds Committees.
**Financial Planning & Accounting Operations:**
- Supervising the Comptroller, Director of Human Resources, and business office personnel.
- Fostering a collaborative, cross-trained business office that promotes teamwork and a goal-oriented culture.
- Establishing a plan and schedule to prepare the annual budget.
- Preparing monthly operating and financial statements.
- Developing projections and ensuring that the budget, budget revisions, and/or budget requests are prepared within guidelines and submitted within established time frames.
**Employee Benefits Administration & Risk Management:**
- Assisting the Head of School with an effective and transparent compensation model.
- Collaborating with the Director of Human Resources on the development and implementation of strategies and best practices on hiring processes and colleague benefits programs.
- Overseeing and supervising the Director of Security and Security team to ensure the safety of all colleagues and students.
**Facilities Management & Auxiliary Operations:**
- Overseeing and supervising the management of the school.
- Representing the school in sending requests for proposals and securing contractual agreements for approved renovation and construction projects.
- Ensuring the effective management of the bookstore, student health center, and food service operations.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience within an independent school, higher education institution, or other mission-driven non-profit organization, with at least 3 years of experience in a senior financial role. A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field, with CPA or MBA preferred.
