We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing our chemical manufacturing operations.
Job Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design, optimize, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment integral to our chemical manufacturing processes. This role requires a hands-on professional with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and a passion for enhancing manufacturing processes within a chemical production environment. A critical aspect of this position will involve automating existing filling and packaging lines and drafting plans for new production lines to improve efficiency and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
· Mechanical System Design & Implementation: Design, develop, and implement mechanical systems and equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and reactors for chemical manufacturing.
· Automation & Packaging Line Optimization:
· Analyze and automate existing filling and packaging lines to increase operational efficiency and consistency.
· Draft, design, and oversee the development of new production lines, ensuring scalability and alignment with manufacturing goals.
· Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose mechanical equipment failures, conduct root cause analyses, and ensure timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
· System Optimization: Perform modeling, simulations, and performance evaluations to optimize manufacturing processes.
· Collaboration: Work closely with process engineers and other departments to integrate mechanical solutions into workflows.
· Feasibility & Risk Analysis: Conduct cost analyses, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for new designs or system modifications.
· Installation & Commissioning: Oversee the installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of mechanical systems and production lines.
· Documentation: Create and maintain design specifications, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals.
· Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs and operations comply with industry standards (ASME, API, NFPA) and safety regulations.
· Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and waste reduction.
· Technical Support: Provide maintenance and production teams training and support on mechanical systems.
· Performance Monitoring: Assess equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements to ensure reliability.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
· 2 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing or process industries.
· Proficient in mechanical system design, equipment maintenance, and manufacturing process optimization.
· Experience with automating production systems and designing new manufacturing lines.
· Knowledge of chemical process operations, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and pressure systems.
· Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for design and drafting.
· Familiarity with mechanical analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD) and reliability engineering principles.
· Understanding of materials science, corrosion control, and materials selection for chemical environments.
· Strong knowledge of regulatory and safety standards (OSHA, EPA, ANSI, ASME).
· Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
· Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with process control systems and automation in chemical manufacturing.
· Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, or other industrial control systems.
· Certification in mechanical engineering (e.g., Professional Engineer license).
· Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency in manufacturing.
· Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis.
