SCHEDULE: First Shift with occasional Third Shift coverage
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing Technical Support to manufacturing processes within a business unit. The job maintains and troubleshoots a wide range of machines, tools, equipment, and computer programs to establish and support production processes that aid in the production of furniture components in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, standing for long periods of time, walking, lifting sixty pounds or less, May require occasional heavy lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors. Work in a manner consistent with standard Sauder safety practices and expectations. The employee will also be required to walk throughout the plant at various times during a typical day. - Provides technical support to engineers and production to ensure project and production goals of the organization are met.
- Suggests or implements changes that result in improved processes, products and productivity.
- Using technology tools, creates drawings, patterns and technical documentation needed to support engineering, purchasing and production.
- Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
- Responsible for the programming of computer numeric controlled equipment for the production of both standard and modified product.
- Responsible to stay current with programming and technology advances within the CNC equipment environment.
- Assembles/fabricates jigs, fixtures and holding devices needed to support production.
- Ensures jigs and fixtures function appropriately with complex angles or contours.
- Provides assistance in the review of existing and design of new manufacturing equipment, processes, and products.
- Assists in development and implementation of changes to improve process, product, efficiency, capability and yield.
- Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.
- Orders new tooling, tools and equipment or repairs tools as needed.
- Inventories, stores, and distributes tooling, tools and other equipment.
- May recommend changes to improve process, product, efficiency, capability and yield.
- May troubleshoot and diagnoses product, process and equipment problems.
- Oversees and reviews the work of lower-level technicians.
- Typically requires 2-4 years of related experience, and may need 0-1 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
- Performs work under moderate supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

- Maintains a beginning and working knowledge of PLC operation & programming.
- Basic computer skills; internet search, email, file storage etc.
- Use of basic measurement equipment; tape measures, calipers, dial indicators.

- A self-starting, goal-oriented, customer-focused individual who takes personal accountability and is driven by the achievement of the group over personal objectives.
