Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This petrochemical industry process engineering position exists to provide process chemical engineering support of daily operations of the plant and comply with the goals on production, quality, training, yearly / monthly budget, cost reports, safety, environmental, plant start-up, plant shutdown, normal operation, improvement project / expansion management while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health and safety regulatory and Company requirements.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Project Management : Study the process and look for areas of improvement that will help the unit achieve Best Industry Practices and correct problem areas. Follow up with projects on a routine basis utilizing best practices, benchmarking, planning, root cause analysis, and any other BACT.
PSM : Assist with elements of process safety and projects such as MOCs, PSI updates, P&ID modifications.
Lead and Facilitate the Fulfillment of Product Delivery and Commitments : Anticipate needs, work as a problem solver to eliminate blockages, and enhance the consistent delivery of quality products that exceed customer expectations. Manage, solve, and / or recommend a resolution to discrepancies, deviations, abnormalities, customer complaints, quality, and non-quality related issues.
Manage, Analyze, Integrate, and Administer Solutions to Improve Efficienc y : Gather, compile, analyze, report, and make recommendations with critical impact on sales, marketing, production planning, credit, quality, logistics, and customer service. Comply with company policy / procedures to streamline day-to-day processes, workflow, and related practices.
Perform Short-Term Strategic Planning Analysis : Make recommendations in these areas :
trends, forecasts, production targets, and new product development.
THM : Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
1. Previous Related Experience Required
No prior experience is required but 1- 2 years of experience in a petrochemical refinery is
preferred. Project management and equipment knowledge experience is a plus.
2. Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
- Computer skills, including but not limited to MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Basic heat / material balance and physical / chemical processes knowledge. Basic operation knowledge of power plants preferred
3. Education
B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering required; other related engineering disciplines considered.
4. Other Certification / Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge
